Privacy

The State of Queensland (“the State”) is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of persons who access this web site. The State understands and appreciates that users of this web site are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any personal information that may become available to the State as a result of their use of this web site.

“Personal information” means any information about an individual from which the person’s identity is apparent or may be readily ascertained, including his or her name, address, email address or position in an organisation.

The State has established a set of procedures for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information within the Queensland public sector, based on the Information Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This Privacy statement describes how this Department collects information when you interact with the Department online and what the Department does with that information.

Use of cookies, web bugs or other similar information technologies

Cookies are used on this web site for the sole purpose of allowing a user to carry information across different pages. Cookies are not used to track or identify users or for any other purpose. (A cookie is a piece of information or a small file placed on the hard drive of a web site user’s computer during the exchange of information that occurs when a web browser accesses a web site. Cookies enable a web site to store information on a user’s machine and later retrieve it. They remember preferences you enter and then tailor a web site to suit your needs. A cookie identifies your computer but does not identify you personally and does not collect personal information.)

Management logs

When you view this web site, the Department’s web server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only: your server address;

  1. your top level domain (for example, .com, .gov, .au etc.);
  2. the date and time of your visit to the web site;
  3. the pages accessed and documents downloaded;
  4. the previous site visited; and
  5. the type of browser used.

No attempt is, or will be, made to identify users of this web site or their browsing activities except in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.

Information collected by the Department will not be added to a mailing list or disclosed to third parties without your consent, unless required by law.

Handling of email correspondence and feedback information

As this is a Queensland Government web site, email correspondence sent to this web site will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Public Records Act 2002. It will also be subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

Email messages sent to this web site may be monitored by the Department’s web support staff for system trouble shooting and maintenance purposes.
