Sharing information benefits all Queenslanders
Information influences everyday decisions, so how can we easily access information from other Queensland Government agencies?
Through services developed by Information Queensland to improve the way the Queensland Government manages and delivers information.
The key goals are to:
- enable the discovery, viewing and download of public information to meet business, community and government needs, and to
- achieve cross-agency efficiencies with better information sharing between all government agencies and stakeholders.
Information Queensland services are available to all GovNet users to not only discover, access, integrate and share information, but also to deliver improved services to their clients. Leveraging cost effective technology, means quality information is available across government, at your fingertips.
An MOU was signed between Queensland Government and CITEC in September 2007, which paved the way for four further contracts with private companies to be signed. Services developed in conjunction with private enterprise, include:
- Microgenex – MapWizard - a new business intelligence tool that will allow Queensland Government agencies to better access, view and analyse business information, and present the outcomes in a map view
- Intech Solutions – Address Validation Service - validates a location using addresses, lotplans and coordinates, or validates postal addresses to return a correct property address for all GovNet users
- WebRaven – Dynamic Online Training System (DOTS) - accredited online training in whole-of-government services provides a consistent user experience for all GovNet users, at your own pace and in your own time
- ESRI Australia – An Enterprise Server Licence - using web-based technology, agencies will gain access to the latest mapping tools and data and provide similar functionality to their clients
- Catalogue - an innovative information and discovery system using metadata for all GovNet users - points the way to information sets
- Atlas - an easy to use tool for all Queenslanders to discover, integrate and view information from multiple sources presented in a dynamic web mapping environment
